I've just noticed on the 2nd pic, her left cheek appears to be sliced completely open, maybe by the jagged silver bit of metal just in front of her face, her nose is smashed flat and it looks like her goggles in the bottom right of the pic.

Am I the only one who had an inappropriate thought about the second image? Her mouth is opened wide and her hand is clenched in a fist in front of her mouth. I thought to photo shop something in her hand... an ice cream cone perhaps? |

in the first pic there is a white piece of what looks like shrapnel from the plane directly in front of her face. in the second pic, you see that same piece off to the left with blood on it. i guarantee she took the shrapnel right between the eyes and split her head open, hence the massive facial wound.
