Helicopter Clips Powerline, Loses Main Rotor, Crashes in Louisiana
On Tuesday, December 14, a Bell 407 helicopter, operated by H, collided with a transmission line owned by Entergy. This collision led to the aircraft crashing onto the eastbound lanes of the spillway near mile marker 212, around 12:30 p.m. The pilot, who was the only person aboard the helicopter, was flying from Baton Rouge to New Orleans Lakefront Airport at the time of the accident.

Almost looks like it was involved in a mid-air collision.

Re: Helicopter Clips Powerline, Loses Main Rotor, Crashes in Louisiana
Authorities have now identified the pilot involved in the helicopter crash on the Bonnet Carre Spillway Bridge along I-10. The St. Charles Parish Coroner has confirmed the individual as 42-year-old J. H, hailing from Livingston Parish. The incident occurred on Tuesday, December 14, around 12:30 p.m. when H's Bell 407 helicopter made contact with an Entergy transmission line, resulting in a crash onto the eastbound lanes of the spillway near mile marker 212. It's worth noting that he was the sole occupant of the aircraft during the flight, which was en route from Baton Rouge to the New Orleans Lakefront Airport. Tragically, J. H leaves behind three young children, all under the age of eight. Before becoming a pilot in 2014, J. H had spent 14 years working on aircraft, as indicated by his social media profiles. In 2016, he ventured into the aviation industry further by establishing his own flight school, Airspeed Flight Services, in Baton Rouge. Additionally, he had a brief but meaningful stint as a paramedic for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in Baton Rouge, serving for just over four years. Images capturing the aftermath of the crash were captured from a vehicle near the accident site on I-10. |

Yes, I have since read about that. In the video, it looks like not only the rotor blades, but the transmission assembly is still attached to them. That's what made me think mid-air collision.
