Female Student Pilot Killed when Cessna 152 Crashed in India

In Telangana, India, a tragic aircraft crash occurred near Thungathurthy village in the Nalgonda district, resulting in the death of a female trainee pilot. The incident took place around 11 a.m. on a Saturday.

The victim was identified as 28-year-old G Mahima from Tamil Nadu. She was a trainee with the Hyderabad-based Flytech Aviation Academy. Mahima was the sole occupant of the Cessna 152 aircraft, a two-seater plane, which she was piloting alone at the time of the accident. The aircraft had taken off from an airfield near Nagarjunasagar, located on the right bank side of the Nagarjunasagar reservoir.

According to eyewitness reports, the aircraft lost control in the air and spiraled to the ground. It is believed that the crash may have been caused by the aircraft hitting something in the air, possibly the high electrical lines of a nearby 133kv transmission tower. The impact scattered parts of the aircraft around the crash site and was accompanied by a sound resembling an explosion.

Initially, some locals thought there might have been two persons involved in the accident due to the two-seater nature of the damaged aircraft and the condition of the victim's remains, which were beyond recognition.

Two investigations have been initiated to determine the cause of the crash: one by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the other by the divisional Miryalaguda police. Preliminary investigations pointed to technical glitches as the cause of the mishap. The aircraft belonged to Flytech Aviation and had a history of being flown by Mahima

Give her a break. She confused the up pedal with the down pedal. That can happen to anybody.

Re: Female Student Pilot Killed when Cessna 152 Crashed in India

by the way eyewitnesses described the plane spun to the ground she most likely didn't pay attention to airspeed and let it decay below blue line or minimum maneuvering speed, then entered a stall spin.

It is virtually impossible to kill yourself in a Cessna 152 unless you have only one brainchild in your left toe.

Re: Female Student Pilot Killed when Cessna 152 Crashed in India

It is virtually impossible to kill yourself in a Cessna 152 unless you have only one brainchild in your left toe.
My flight instructor, a gruff old lady, told me that Cessna 150's are the most under-rated aircraft in aviation. They have the highest ACCIDENT rate, since they are nearly always used as trainers, but they have one of the lowest FATALITY rates, because of how they are designed and built. She also considered them the perfect "trip airplane" for a single pilot, as they can carry a lot, have a lot of storage space, and are very economical to operate. Also, parts are cheap and readily available, and they are easy to maintain.
I really liked the ones I flew. My only complaint about them is you have to retrim them EVERY time you change something like a power setting or flight control maneuver. My instructor said: "They were DESIGNED like that! If they wanted to eliminate that, they would have made the fuselage 2 feet longer, and the trimming would be cut in half. But since it's a training plane, they want you dummies to learn to trim properly from your first lesson, so you know how to do it properly and automatically while you fly. That's how you get the best performance from your airplane, keeping it properly trimmed up so if flies easily!"
