FedEx Flight 1026 Makes Emergency Landing In Los Angeles
August 19, 2020, a FedEx Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport due to a mechanical issue, resulting in a shower of sparks on the runway. The incident unfolded when the pilot, operating FedEx Flight 1026, alerted the airport's air traffic control about a malfunction in the plane's landing gear at approximately 3:50 AM. Emergency response teams were immediately dispatched to the site as the aircraft prepared for an urgent landing on Runway 25R. Footage from the scene captured the moment the plane, laden with sparks, skidded to a stop on the tarmac. During the event, one of the two pilots on board sustained injuries after exiting the cockpit. The injured pilot was promptly taken to a local hospital, fortunately with injuries that were not life-threatening. Flight 1026 had been en route from Newark Liberty International Airport, a known FedEx hub, before encountering the mechanical issue. |
