Federal Highway Police Helicopter Crashes in Eunapolis, Brazil
A helicopter belonging to the Federal Highway Police (PRF) was involved in an accident on Tuesday afternoon on BR-101 in Eunapolis, Brazil leaving one officer with minor injuries. The incident occurred after the helicopter, which had flown from Salvador and landed at Porto Seguro airport, was en route to the city. Local residents reported that the aircraft collided with a five-meter sign attached to a pole structure. The helicopter was carrying three police officers at the time: the commander, the co-pilot, and an operator. One of these officers sustained minor head injuries and received immediate medical attention from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), before being transferred to the Regional Hospital for further treatment. While the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, the head of the 9th PRF Police Station has indicated that technical issues with the helicopter have been ruled out. According to reports, the pilot attempted a technical landing when one of the helicopter's propellers struck the sign. The helicopter sustained partial damage due to the accident, and the area around the crash has been cordoned off for safety and investigative purposes. The investigation will continue to determine the precise sequence of events leading up to the accident and to establish any contributing factors. |
