Engine Fire on Plane Carrying Oil Workers From The Sakha Republic
A harrowing incident unfolded aboard an Angara Airlines flight en route from Talakan to Irkutsk, capturing the attention of passengers as a nightmarish scene unfolded. A passenger on the flight managed to capture the terrifying moment when flames erupted from the right-side engine of the aircraft. One passenger expressed their thoughts in the midst of the distressing situation, stating, 'I thought I was an atheist, and then I just started praying.' The flight was carrying oil workers from the Talakan oil field located in Yakutia, also known as the Sakha Republic. The journey initially commenced without any issues, departing from the Talakan airport, a significant milestone as the first and only aerodrome in Russia solely built by the private company Surgutneftegaz. The aircraft was bound for Irkutsk when passengers suddenly noticed the engine engulfed in flames. In response to the alarming situation, the pilot promptly requested permission to return to the airport and skillfully executed an emergency landing, ensuring the safety of all on board. An official investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the engine failure on the Antonov plane, designed to accommodate up to 85 passengers. This high-wing monoplane boasts a remarkable maximum range of 4,400 kilometers (2,700 miles). Subsequently, passengers from the distressing flight were transported to Irkutsk later the same day using a backup aircraft, bringing a measure of relief and resolution to the unsettling incident. |

"A passenger said: 'I thought I was an atheist, and then I just started praying'." There are no atheists on foxholes or when you airplane is about to become toast! |
