Plane Crash on U.S. Highway 69 in Cherokee County, Texas
Officials from the Texas Department of Public Safety have officially identified the individuals involved in the plane crash that occurred on U.S. Highway 69 in Cherokee County. The occupants of the aircraft have been named as Joshua Daniel, aged 36, hailing from Bullard, and Jamie Jackson, aged 33, from Tomball. As of Tuesday night, Joshua Daniel remained in serious condition at ETMC Tyler, with reported injuries to his head and left arm. In contrast, Jamie Jackson has already received medical treatment and has been discharged from ETMC Tyler. Joshua Daniel, the 36-year-old flight student who was piloting the aircraft during the crash, had to be intubated due to the head and left arm injuries he sustained, as confirmed by his family. Troopers at the scene secured the area and were awaiting the arrival of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to further the ongoing investigation. The incident involved a Cessna 150, a single-engine plane, and took place near the city of Bullard, north of Mount Selman. Jamie Jackson was transported to ETMC in Tyler by ambulance, while Joshua Daniel was airlifted to ETMC Tyler by helicopter. Family members of the individuals involved believe that they were engaged in practicing field runs and performing grass landings at a landing strip located just a few hundred yards from the crash site. The FAA has confirmed that the plane had departed from Tyler Pounds Regional Airport before the crash occurred on Highway 69, near mile marker 352, with substantial damage sustained by the aircraft. Brian Barnett, a pilot stationed at Tyler Pounds, has identified the two men involved in the crash, mentioning that one of them was a student pilot, while the other served as his instructor. |
