Cockpit Camera Captures Russian Student's Plane Crash
A camera inside the cockpit shows a flight instructor and a student pilot who crashed a plane while in training. In a tragic incident that has shaken the Russian aviation community, Vladislav Vasechkin, a highly experienced flight instructor aged 44, was killed during a flight training session. The accident, which also critically injured co-pilot Roman Chernov, occurred under circumstances that have since become the subject of intense discussion and analysis within aviation circles. Vasechkin, a first-class instructor pilot with approximately 30 years of flight experience, was conducting a training exercise in a Harmony model aircraft. This modern, single-engine plane, equipped with a Rotax 912 engine, is known for its reliability and performance. However, during the session, a sudden and catastrophic loss of control led to the aircraft crashing in a wooded area. Initial reports suggest that the aircraft made contact with the runway but then attempted to ascend again, resulting in a loss of control and the subsequent crash. The precise details of the flight's final moments and the decisions made in the cockpit have become a focal point for pilots and experts, sparking discussions and debates about the potential causes of the disaster.

looked like: practicing landing or touch-and-gos in strong crosswinds, aborted, and stalled it out(not enough airspeed while trying to pull up);the plane will often bank right or left in a stall. the engine may have hesitated when they suddenly went full throttle on the abort

Re: Cockpit Camera Captures Russian Student's Plane Crash
the airplane was probably travelling an absolute mimimum of 40-50 kts when it impacted....thats as fast or faster than many of the car crash vids we see here

Re: Cockpit Camera Captures Russian Student's Plane Crash
You always land traveling into the wind. They turn left from the runway, then the crash occurs as the plane unexpectedly rolls left from the wind sheer and possibly stalling. You can see he has the stick to the right, which would roll the plane to the right( indicating he is battling wind), but as it crashes it rolls left, opposite of the pilot input. Cant see what the rudder pedals are doing though. My money is on inadequate airspeed (the instructor applies throttle late, after the student begins to climb), and the crosswind causing the plane to roll left. They instructor and student are dumb for not gaining altitude immediately, you never know when the engine is going to cut out. |
