Boeing 747 Jet's Wheel Falls to the Runway Seconds After Takeoff
In a startling turn of events, a plane encountered a wheel malfunction mere seconds after taking off from Italy en route to the United States. The incident involved a Boeing 747-400 Dreamlifter departing from Taranto-Grottaglie Airport in southern Italy, bound for Charleston, South Carolina. Video footage captured the cargo plane accelerating on the runway. Approximately five seconds after its liftoff, an astonishing occurrence unfolded as one of the 100kg wheels on its left side emitted smoke and detached from the aircraft. Remarkably, the missing wheel, measuring four feet in diameter, was subsequently located at a vineyard beyond the airport's boundaries. Despite this unexpected setback, the plane managed to execute a safe landing at its intended destination. Boeing has pledged to collaborate with the operator's investigation into the incident, stating, "We will support our operator’s investigation." This Dreamlifter cargo flight, operated by Atlas Air, successfully landed at Charleston International Airport after losing a wheel assembly during takeoff from Taranto-Grottaglie Airport in Italy. |

Highly doubt a wheel falling of a Dreamlifter is Boeing's fault

I don't suppose that was the wheel of fortune, was it? |
