Avianca Flight 52 Fuel Exhaustion Crash Near JFK, 1990
Avianca Flight 52, a Boeing 707, crashed near JFK on January 25, 1990, after running out of fuel. The aircraft had been held for more than an hour because of bad weather. The captain was unable to properly request priority for landing. Seventy-three people died, and many others were seriously injured.  ·
