Re: Air India 787 Jet Ahmedabad to Gatwick Crashes, Major Casualties Expected.

deliberate act murder suicide probably by the captain.
Certainly a possibility, noting the rumours about mental health issues.

Seems to me that the most likely explanation, based on the relatively little publicly known at present, was that the Captain (P/M) cut fuel to both engines instead of raising landing gear.

That could be, as Petter Hornfeldt said, "brain fart of the century". If accidental, it would be a huge and inexplicable error. But it wouldn't be the first one to happen.

Or, as you suggest, it could be deliberate. Leaving gear down would keep a lot of drag, which would be consistent with his objectives in that scenario. Delaying 10 seconds and moving switches back (too late) could be a cover to hide the deliberate nature of the event.

Applying Occam's Razor, I think it would be hard to conclude murder/suicide unless there was some further compelling evidence. (Large life insurance policy taken out a few days prior?). But, who knows, that evidence might exist and could be found.

not that restarting them quicker would have saved them.
It could have, for two reasons. First, less loss of momentum/altitude. Second, faster restart due to N1 & N2 being closer to nominal rotation and greater chance of relight - IIRC #1 restarted before impact but #2 didn't.

Re: Air India 787 Jet Ahmedabad to Gatwick Crashes, Major Casualties Expected.

The interim report says some things but also doesn't say other things. Specifically they don't say which pilot said what. That information is known. The pilot mics have individual feeds to the data recorder. The authorities are choosing to withhold that information what else are they choosing to withhold?
This is a very interesting question.

The Enhanced Airborne Flight Recorder (EAFR) units on the 787 comply with a new voice/data recorder standard called ARINC 767-1 (nothing to do with B767). AFAIK 787s were the first commercial aircraft to implement ARINC 767-1.

The standard specifies four audio channels: PIC, F/O, jumpseat and cockpit area microphone (CAM). So, yes, it will be obvious who said what.

The only reason I can think of to not publish those specifics is that it would promote (possibly accurate) speculation and cause an uproar that would not be addressed for 12-18 months until the final report was released.

Even if they know who said what. Maybe the one detecting the switches in the cutoff position and asking the other did you do that maybe wanted to cover his own action and when done on purpose he doesn't want his family to take the blame for his own suicidal/mass murder act and blame it on the other?

Blame-shifting, often linked to projection, is more common among individuals with poor emotion regulation or narcissistic traits, who may lie to avoid guilt, shame, or responsibility.

For example, a 2020 study on pathological lying estimated 8-13% of people engage in excessive lying, sometimes to deflect blame. In specific contexts like relationships or workplaces, blame-shifting can be frequent, with up to 25% of people admitting to lying to avoid responsibility.

Calling out the switches would increase the odds that the other pilot could recover the jet, so "blame-shifting" seems unlikely here. Although, a suicidal narcissist is not necessarily logical.

This. In these cultures commiting suicide brings great shame on the family. So men will go to great lengths to make it look like a tragic accident. And end up killing everyone just to hide their suicide.
Crazy mental defect.

St
The hypothesis is battery fire shut down both engines and the pilots quickly turned the fuel off and then back on to get the engines spooling again.
If you knew anything about aviation, what you said makes zero sense.

Re: Air India 787 Jet Ahmedabad to Gatwick Crashes, Major Casualties Expected.

The wife of the sole survivor of the Air India plane crash has delivered a heartbreaking update on her husband, three months after the horrific accident killed 260 people.

On June 12, Air India Flight 171 crashed into the hostel block of B. J. Medical College 32 seconds after takeoff from the Sardar Vallabhabhai Patel International Airport runway in Ahmedabad, India.

The tragedy, which killed all 12 members of staff onboard, 229 of the 230 passengers, and 19 people on the ground, remains under investigation by India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB).

40-year-old Vishwash Kumar Ramesh from Leicester escaped the wreckage of the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which was heading from India to London Gatwick Airport on the day of the crash.

The father was sitting near the emergency exit in seat 11A when the Air India plane went down three months ago.

In an interview with The Times, his wife Hiral said that her husband remains under medical supervision in India.

She added that he was grieving his brother, Ajay, who had been sitting across the aisle from him on the aircraft.

Hiral has since confirmed that she and Ramesh’s young son had returned to the UK, so the four-year-old could begin his schooling again. The rest of his relatives remain in India.

The outlet reported that while the child ‘understood’ why he had to return to England, he continues to ‘miss his dad’.

The survivor’s wife then issued a heartbreaking statement, claiming she didn’t know when he would be deemed well enough to join them back at home.

“I’m not sure when he’s coming back to the UK as his treatment is going on,” she alleged on Friday (September 12).

“Everything *happened in front of him and the main thing is he lost his brother. He’s not talking to anyone in the media, even in India.”

According to the businessman’s brother-in-law, Ramesh may never return to the UK.

“I think he will stay over there because he would be too frightened to get on a plane again,” he told.

Well excuse me Rodger Ramjet all I was doing was reiterating what two guys have come up with as a possible alternative hypothesis .

These two guys are not dummys!

So if u have an alternative narrative lets hear it!
