Piper PA-31 Crash During Takeoff in Venezuela Kills 2 Pilots
A Piper PA-31T1 Cheyenne I took off from runway 20 at Paramillo Airport (SCISVPM), San Cristóbal,Táchira, at approximately 09:52 LT and crashed immediately. Both occupants perished and the aircraft was destroyed by fire. The aircraft, with Venezuela registration YV1443, appeared to suffer asymmetric thrust during takeoff, causing it to roll over and crash - resulting in a massive fireball just in front of the person filming the takeoff. There were 2 pilots on board (who have been named unofficially). Both died in the crash. Their charred bodies can be seen in the wreckage in one of the videos. |

This isn’t working.  However the first video was pretty amazing. Looked a lot like a King Air. Beautiful aircraft. Well, at least for the takeoff.  |

A friend of mine has a Cherokee. He takes me flying about once a month or so. It's in beautiful condition.  |

An avoidable accident by an inexperienced pilot. Loss of a critical engine below VMC, and failure to reduce power on the opposite engine. Probably failure to identify which engine failed. A roll will be induced that cannot be corrected by full deflection of the yoke. This scenario is lesson # one when obtaining a multi-engine endorsement.  |
