Re: Agricultural Aircraft Hits Antenna Mast and Crashes in Meadow
I had a friend who was over in the States from France. He wanted to become an aerial applicator (Crop Duster). Then he found out that the AVERAGE is 8 crashes per year, per pilot. I was driving I-8 from Tucson to San Diego, and passed a crop duster company in the valley near the Colorado River. There must have been 20 of these aircraft, stacked along a row at the airport, all crumpled and smashed. But I also found out that pilots can crash these at up to 8 G's and come out with no injuries. They have extra wide safety belts, heavily padded cockpits and the fuel tanks are supposed to be shielded from impact holes. But maybe this crash was 8.2 G's. |

I thought that would be someone who fixed your TV reception. I also knew an aerial applicator. Based on my knowledge of him, I think it might be more accurate to say that the cockpit is outfitted with "rubber wallpaper" if you know what I mean ... |

Re: Agricultural Aircraft Hits Antenna Mast and Crashes in Meadow
As long as he's still alive. (I saw an interview with Kelly Johnson, the guy who engineered the SR-71 program, and they asked him which airplane he designed that he was most proud of. To my surprise, he said it was a cropdusting airplane that he designed years ago. He said all the military aircraft didn't matter much, and compared them all, including the SR-71, to being political stunts where Russian and U.S. leaders were just laying their dicks on a table, to see whose was bigger. The cropduster was the only aircraft he designed that he felt was a real benefit to people in the world, because it could prevent famines and feed hundreds of thousands of people. He had a bigger outlook on things than most people. Although he might have been jaded from working on government projects for so long. |
