3 Policemen Injured when Presidential Security Black Hawk Chopper Crashes
On September 4, 2010, in Bogota, Colombia, a helicopter crash left at least three officials injured. The incident involved a Black Hawk helicopter carrying 14 officials, all part of President Juan Manuel Santos' security detail. The crash occurred within the premises of the Jose Maria Cordoba Military Academy. The Health Ministry reported that three policemen from the helicopter were transported to a local hospital with injuries that included broken bones and multiple bruises. Preliminary findings indicated that the accident was a result of an engine mechanical failure. This incident brought back memories of a tragic event in April when two Bell 222 helicopters collided near the town of Chaparral in the country's south. In that earlier incident, seven military officers, including a general, lost their lives, and five others sustained injuries. |
