1977 Tenerife Runway Collision Killed 583
On March 27, 1977, two Boeing 747 passenger aircraft collided on the runway at Los Rodeos Airport on Tenerife in Spain's Canary Islands. A total of 583 people were killed. The disaster remains the deadliest accident in commercial aviation history.  ·
