The Western Tarsier
Photographer Joel Sartore captured this footage of a Horsfield’s tarsier at Taman Safari in Indonesia. It's a carnivorous, nocturnal species of tarsier living in Borneo and Sumatra. Credit: joelsartore The western tarsier is the only species of tarsier in the genus Cephalopachus. Named by American naturalist Thomas Horsfield, it is also incorrectly referred to as Horsfield's tarsier. The species occurs on Borneo, Sumatra and nearby islands and is, like other members of the group, entirely nocturnal. |

I'm certain that little critter was responsible for the first appearances of certain cryptids in our legends. "I was walking on the road through Dover Woods late at night when I saw this- this- thing 20 feet away, glaring at me with saucer-sized demon eyes that glowed in the moonlight!"  |
