What makes me suspect a high level of truth is the fact that British agents were involved (truth be told, what the hell were the British agents doing there?). It seems to me that because there were quite a few Brits inside that building (according to Wiki around 21), the US authorities thought to have them involved lest a diplomatic row occurred because of it.
