Volcanic Sunsets II - 3rd & 4th May 2010

After a second surge of ash was thrown into the atmosphere by the Eyjafjallajökull volcano earlier this week, more wonderful sunsets were created.

This time the plume of Ash is hanging further west and over ireland, meaning it affected the light more where i'm based...

Re: Volcanic Sunsets II - 3rd & 4th May 2010

I have seen a glowing orange band of light just above the horizon pretty much every night for the last 3 or so weeks, the glowing orange band remains there for about 2-3hours after sunset.

Nice! Thanks for this post. Great photos, I needed those. ;)
You ought to see the sunsets over LA on a smoggy July evening. The sky glows green to orange.

You know my sky looks like that alot. At sunset here the dust particles reflect the setting sun (some chit like that) and our sunsets our world famous.

Purples, pinks. oranges.

Very nice photos.
I have captured sunset like those, but they were more deep red.
And I have also seen that orange band too.
