ummm what...wait that pic makes no sense....how would it freeze in place like that....it LOOKS like it is standing up and all but its hard to tell

Seems pretty clear to me it died in the water, and then it all froze.

i just find it weird how dry the fur on the top looks, no ice or snow in it or anything like that

yes and the fact that it appears to be standing upright as if though it was just walking....had it died it would have fallen over or something....unless it was flash frozen

Maybe it fell through thin ice and died trying to swim out...when you enlarge it you can see where someone has been ice skating quite close....curious picture non the less.

It could be laying down. Just looks like it was walking. Strange pic.
