What a mess... easy to joke about but that tangle of organic debris is NOT going to wash away on it's own. People had to actually clean that up piece by piece... body by body. I bet some of those people just fell apart at the slightest touch

that's an amazing picutre...

I've yet to see any good video footage showing the size of the tsunami, everything i always saw looked like a relatively small wave when thinking of the waves I've seen at surfe spots... perhaps cause the images and videos of the tsunami never had surfers to show how truely big it really was
Reports indicate that waves reaching land were somewhere between 30 and 50 meters high depending on where they hit, but as I understand it there wasn't a 'wave' as in a big curling wall of water, per se. There were 3 or 4 big (but more importantly long-wave) walls of water that came in all roiling and just kept coming and coming. Not something you could surf on, alas.
