'Tortoise Eats Pigeon'

A tortoise attacks a pigeon in a public park in Porto Alegre, Brasil
Sorry the video in isn't in English, I couldn't find one.

It seems unusual for a tortoise to predate on live meat:
Most land-based tortoises are herbivores, feeding on grasses, weeds, leafy greens, flowers, and some fruits, although some omnivorous species are in this family. Pet tortoises typically require diets based on wild grasses, weeds, leafy greens and certain flowers. Certain species consume worms or insects and carrion (decaying flesh) in their normal habitats. Too much protein is detrimental in herbivorous species, and has been associated with shell deformities and other medical problems. As different tortoise species vary greatly in their nutritional requirements, it is essential to thoroughly research the dietary needs of an individual tortoise.
Unless it's a turtle:
What turtles in the wild eat depends greatly on the type of turtle and its natural habitat. Wild turtles typically eat a lot of plants that grow in the water, small insects, snails, worms, and even dead marine animals and fish. Protein is very important for wild turtle's to grow. This is why many wild turtles are carnivorous when they are young and then gradually start eating plants and vegetation as they age.
Here is a pelican eating a pigeon:

Re: 'Tortoise Eats Pigeon'

Americans call tortoises, Turtles. In Europe, they are different. Only aquatic ones are turtles. Land ones are tortoises.

Re: 'Tortoise Eats Pigeon'

Steps to tell if its a tortoise, turtle or terrapin

1
Look at the habitat your pet is in. If it lives in salt water (is an oceanic animal), then your pet is a turtle. If it lives in fresh or brackish water, it is a terrapin. If it lives on land, it is a tortoise.

2
Look at its feet. Sea turtles will have broad flippers rather than feet with claws. Both terrapins and tortoises have feet.

3
Look for a salt gland. Sea turtles have a salt gland in the corner of their eyes, nostrils, or in the tongue. This is to help the sea turtles get rid of excess salt in their bodies.
