Re: Syria - Men Versus Tanks in Darayya - The Powerful T-72 Tank Raids. (32min)
Tanks are vulnerable in urban environments because the jungle offers so many dark "peak-a-boo" spots. IEDs and RPGs are the staple enemy of tanks these days. Its why you always have troops with tanks to back them up, they're invincible up until a certain point. US/UK tanks are a lot tougher due to the way they are built and used, a challenger 2 tank can take a lot of RPG hits, not sure about the Abrams II. You want overwatch and secure corners and alleyways for your tanks, nobody can fight a hidden enemy unless they demolish the place with artillery. |

Syria is one large training ground for domestic Syrian terrorists and foreigners. I don't trust them and their methods waging war. And we supply them with weapons and money.....

The way they're using these tanks, that is about as terrifying a weapon as I've ever seen. The barrel turns this way and stops. Long pause then BOOM. Thanks for uploading some of the best footage I've seen.

Re: Syria - Men Versus Tanks in Darayya - The Powerful T-72 Tank Raids. (32min)
Tanks in general have very limited places the crew can see out of: - Driver's hatch - Gunner's viewport - Commander's cupola (hatch thing on top) So generally speaking, it is very hard to spot out of a tank without support in urban areas. Also, most of the crew have ear muffs/radio/loud as fuck inside, so good luck hearing what is going on outside if you're trying to "listen for an enemy". Tank turrets/guns in general also have very very piss poor elevation/depression. American tanks are on the better end of this. Basically if you want to hit anything a couple of floors up you have to be a good distance away, or up a ramp. Most tanks, but not all, have neutral turning. This means you can turn on the spot without driving in an arc. Turning in urban areas is tricky too. If you bash your gun on the wall, you won't be firing out of that thing again for a while. I was very impressed with that anti-tank shot. Didn't think the rocket launcher was capable of penetrating that armour. That guy who got ejected, lucky as fuck. |
