Old Mine Workings Near Paul Spur, Arizona...
Pretty much anywhere you want to go exploring in southern Arizona, you will find the remains of old mining operations. This one was easily spotted by the huge shelf of tailings halfway up a hill. A short hike later, and I found this. For reference, the timber in the hole was roughly 8"~10" in thickness. The hole was about 12' across. It was windy, but I did manage to hear a few rocks bouncing off of whatever about 5~6 seconds after I dropped them in between the boards. I imagine that there's a few bones down there. |

Re: Old Mine Workings Near Paul Spur, Arizona...
My brother and I loved to explore the desert out of Las Vegas, Nevada many years before it became "las vegas". Lived there 30 years until 2000. We once found a mine that had been abandoned near Jean, NV. Carried a mine cart out and down a mountain with 2x4's across our shoulders. He still has it. God...miss being young, strong and crazy. Thanks for your post.
