Re: Strange Sighting on Lake Champlain in Burlington, Vermont

I tend to think it was a deer as well. The head out of water and longer snout made me thing deer swimming. Regardless still pretty cool.

Re: Strange Sighting on Lake Champlain in Burlington, Vermont

I don't think it's a deer or a dog. In a couple of the scenes there is a dark object that appears behind it that if it IS part of the body, would make it way too long to be a deer. Interesting.

Re: Strange Sighting on Lake Champlain in Burlington, Vermont

Only one thing makes me a think this is bs,though I would really like to believe it. Why didnt you finish filming when it got that close to the shore? Seems to me the "land animal" reached its destination - land. Though it is an impressive wake and is long on the back end, we should take a look at moose swimming. this clearly looks like a female moose swimming which is an awesome sight itself and they are known to do this often, swimming that is and champlain valley is loaded with them. Moose -Possible? Nelley-No.

Re: Strange Sighting on Lake Champlain in Burlington, Vermont

"This is one of our many large snapping turtles in lake Champlain. I've seen them do this exactly the way Eric has it in his video. People are getting the wrong impression with the illusion of it being longer than it is . Its caused by the reflection of the sun rise. If you watch the video, the sun rise is in perfect position to reflect off the wake of the turtle. I cannot be one hundred percent sure but at least 90% sure that this just captures one of the biggest turtles in Vermont."
I tend to agree with the turtle observation.
