Re: Several Stray Dogs Attack 4 Year Old Child Playing Outside

12 year old kid gets bitten in the face by a stray dog in India. The child sustained serious injuries in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment at the Hospital.

In India, there are an estimated 30 million to 62 million stray dogs. Nearly 100% of India's stray dog population consists of free-roaming community dogs living on public streets, in alleys and around markets.

India's animal birth control rules strictly forbid removing healthy street dogs from their locations.

These dogs survive on the streets by scavenging organic waste and relying on local residents who feed them daily.

India accounts for roughly 36% of global rabies deaths. A rabid dog loses its natural fear of humans, acting with erratic, unprovoked aggression that can influence the rest of the pack.

Pack attacks most frequently target vulnerable individuals—such as small children or the elderly. often triggered by sudden movements like running, which inadvertently sets off a dog’s natural chasing instinct.

Local municipal authorities or authorized animal welfare NGOs are called to locate and capture the specific dog or pack involved. The captured animals are placed under mandatory quarantine for 10 days to observe them for symptoms of rabies. If a dog dies during this window, its brain tissue is tested for the virus.

If the dogs are found to be healthy after quarantine, the law requires them to be sterilized, vaccinated against rabies, and returned to the exact street location where they were caught.

To prevent packs from forming aggressive territorial boundaries over food, the court also restricted the unregulated distribution of food to street dogs, mandating specific, designated feeding areas away from crowded public spaces.

The United States has an estimated 5.9 million stray dogs that are actively living unhoused on the streets at any given time, while another 2.3 million dogs reside within the shelter systemt. Free-roaming street dogs are relatively rare in most American regions.

Only about 60 to 100 dogs tested positive nationwide each year in the U.S.

Stray cats are diagnosed with rabies far more often than dogs because they are more likely to hunt and fight with rabid wildlife like bats or raccoons.

Mandatory vaccination laws for pets, combined with aggressive local animal control management that keeps strays off the streets, prevents the virus from taking hold in the dog population.

India however is home to a specific, highly contagious canine strain of the rabies virus. Because dogs continuously pass the virus to other dogs, the disease does not need wild animals to stay alive in urban environments.

Through aggressive, nationwide vaccination campaigns throughout the 20th century, the U.S. completely eradicated the canine strain of rabies in 2007.

Due to the overwhelming sheer volume of India's 30 to 62 million street dogs, mass vaccination tracking is exceptionally difficult. Most municipal corporations face massive funding, vehicle, and staffing shortages, leaving the vast majority of India's street dogs entirely unvaccinated.

Street dogs are natural scavengers that multiply based on the food available to them. Many Indian municipalities battle open-air municipal garbage dumps and street-side food stalls, providing a virtually endless supply of food that allows large, dense dog packs to thrive and easily spread viruses to one another.

Tight sanitation infrastructure and closed residential waste management systems in the U.S. completely deny stray dogs an easy street food supply, preventing stray packs from forming or sustaining themselves in numbers.

If a fucking dog gets anywhere close to me or my kids, I’m prepared to unload a magazine into the head of that beast. I don’t care how cute and cuddly you think your dog is. I will not hesitate to kill it if I feel threatened. You better keep it on a leash and away from me and my family.

Re: Several Stray Dogs Attack 4 Year Old Child Playing Outside

Guess all those poor starving dogs have to eat SOMEthing, too bad this meal was denied: I mean, how much of a future, even without many score of stitches on his face/head, could this kid have, living where he does??.... I do wonder though, how commonly these dogs are biting/rabidizing cows up (y'know, the other in-public menace animal that India refuses to get off the streets?)

2nd vid: rare, extended HOF (hand on face) syndrome capture, nice!

Re: Several Stray Dogs Attack 4 Year Old Child Playing Outside

We got more than our fair share of stray dogs here in SEA. I go for walks a lot, because being on a motorbike is scary, and I don’t own a car here. I was approached by a pack of three dogs that were barking and growling at me, and continued to follow me. I pulled out my pocket knife, and kept flipping it open with force to make it sound threatening, and I did slashing motions. The dogs backed away and stopped growling. Had the dogs attacked me I was ready to slash throats and disembowel them.
