It's real and it shows the advancements in China's rapid progress in AI and humanoid robotics. Chinese startup Unitree robotics was the main supplier of these robots. Last year only simple dances and handkerchief activities were possible. Bet next year they carry firearms etc. and can form a battalion.  |

These robots will be VERY DEADLY adversaries on the battlefield! And unlike Russians in Ukraine, robotic losses mean NOTHING to China. Further bad news for the U.S. and any other country that may face China!  |

I just found out that these robots were not actually AI controlled, each had pre-programmed moves that were activated by remote control by a human operator |

Well, I think its clear the moves had to be pre-programmed otherwise they wouldn't be operating in synchronization as they were. That would have been one of the factors that made this easier to do, the robots only needed to execute a pre-programmed sequence of moves (that could be tested and adjusted beforehand) rather than deal with whatever might be found in the environment. AI is added to everything these days to make it sound more interesting. Doesn't necessarily mean there is any actual AI involved. |
