Chinese Humanoid Robot, IRON, Collapses Backwards

Xpeng's humanoid robot, IRON, stumbled and collapsed backward during a live demonstration in a Shenzhen shopping mall. .Despite the fall, the incident was described by CEO He Xiaopeng as part of the learning process, similar to a child learning to walk, following its November 2025 unveiling. After a smooth catwalk, the robot lost its balance and fell backward, with staff assisting. Unveiled in November 2025, IRON is a second-generation, AI-powered humanoid robot designed for industrial and commercial use, featuring a "born from within" endoskeleton design. IRON uses all-solid-state batteries and three custom AI chips, providing high-performance computing capabilities. The incident highlights the ongoing technical challenges in the rapid development of humanoid robots, even as they demonstrate advanced, lifelike movement capabilities. This event followed other, unrelated, 2025 incidents involving different Chinese robots, including one that fell during a marathon and another that kicked an engineer. |

That looked like a 'sudden disconnect', i.e. operator signal loss, like Optimus bots have been seen/accused of depending on recently.
