The more unique the spot pattern the more expensive the koi. I imagine those probably fetched a few thousand dollars a piece or more.

Koi are giant gold fish. They have been known to live to 100 years old if well taken care of.

that's amazing, they do look familiar, in Hong KOng they have a theme park called Ocean Park and it's got this big gold fish pavilion with heaps of different kinds of gold fish so might have seen them in there
