Freddiew's .50 Cal William Tell: Staged Watermelon Sniper Video, 2010
Freddie Wong's YouTube channel freddiew released the staged visual-effects short around early November 2010. The video depicts a man in a bicycle helmet balancing a watermelon on his head while a shooter in a ghillie suit aims a scoped, bipod-mounted rifle from a prone position at an outdoor range. The sequence then appears to show the watermelon being shot from a distance. The stunt was created with visual effects rather than performed as shown, and a separate behind-the-scenes video demonstrated how it was made. No one was hurt. |

what the fuck... I shoot at our long distance range atleast 2-3 times a week and I have met shooters that are the best of the bunch 15-25 years of experiences and I wouldn't let them shoot a watermelon on top of my cell phone let alone my own head. I really hope this is fake.

Really wasn't much distance. We would qualify in the 500 meter yard line (prone position) and a six foot target looks like the head of a pin. As far as the dumb ass target goes...well, he probably won't be around very long (Poor decisions).

Great video, and the dude who had the melon shot off his head could have been killed. Good case for an honorable-mention Darwin Award if it's real. Fucking idiots... |
