Re: Extinct Animals That Were Photographed Alive
Ohhh, no! Don't dismiss it... it's a cinematic breakthrough, but if you are into environmental stuff or the idea of anti-imperialism, you would like it. And did I mention that it is a stunning cinematic breakthrough? Not sure if you ever saw "Jurassic Park", but "Avatar" breaks the mold in a similar way... it paves the way for a whole new era of filmmaking. Not seeing it would be tantamount to missing a major turning point in film history! It's incredible how well the film develops the characters, even though 50% are not even "real"... they still seem real. As an audience, we develop sympathy for them, and by the end of the film, we relate with them... anyhow, I am a hack movie critic, but really... the film is excellent. It's a fantastic voyage into a new and exciting biosphere, with drama and action interspersed at very logical and reasonable intervals. We end up rooting for the small guys, because the film builds such strong emotions for them.... |

Re: Extinct Animals That Were Photographed Alive
I do too!! Fuck! I am failing in my convincing here... okay, shit... think of ANY film in which a downtrodden group of people rally their strength to overcome indomitable odds and win their freedom! Yeah? Anything?!? lol Maybe it's just a guy thing, but I really get a major rush when I watch a film where a group of exploited people finally get revenge on their oppressors!!

Re: Extinct Animals That Were Photographed Alive
I can't watch that video right now because my boyfriend's asleep (computer's right near the bed) and I don't have headphones, but I'll watch it in the morning. Yeah, I know what you mean about the downtrodden people revolting against their oppressors! I like the idea of the aliens "networking"... I might go watch it now. Thanks for telling me about it! |

Re: Extinct Animals That Were Photographed Alive
Please check that video at least... it's a sneak preview into the wonderful world in the film, without spoiling the plot! And no... no mullets, no Mel Gibson! lol I mean, this film is made by one of Hollywoods wonderful directors, James Cameron... Terminator and Terminator 2, True Lies, Titanic... and now, Avatar! lol And really, the unique biology of the planet plunges you fully into the story... it's very unique and entertaining, and yet seems physically possible. It's remarkable. Oh also, let me add that the film's protagonist is none other than Aussie native Sam Worthington! (man, I'm not even getting paid to promote this film, wth!) |

Re: Extinct Animals That Were Photographed Alive
Oh well hell, he would love to film! The unique alien biology is wonderful and fantastic, especially how the natives interact with their environment... it really makes you think! Glad I sort of convinced you to see the film... I just wish James Cameron was paying me for this :/ But really, I'm only promoting it because it is an amazing film. Love, drama, action, a bit of humor, and the most breathtaking and emotionally-alluring special effects that have ever been created! Lest we forget that this film takes place after humans have destroyed most of Earth's biosphere :( (not a spoiler, btw!) |
