also, Nye is super nice and respectful of others... that's amazing but makes for kind of boring debates. Hitchens was an asshole at times and would belittle the shit out of a person if they werent keeping up... which could be a bit fun to watch.

i believe Ham asked Nye because Nye was one of the few that would debate him. Dawkins flat out wont debate creationist and actually said he felt Nye shouldnt do it either. the debate though was actually put on by Ham (which shocked me, honestly) but im not sure if he asked anybody else first before Nye. Nye was an excellent choice and did fantastic though! could have done better but handled it with class and respect, which was nice.

Dawkins or Harris would have torn Ham apart so brutally (but still with due respect, which isnt much) it would have been more sad than anything... it would have been a 'why are atheists picking on Ham' situation, i think.

Nobel Peace Prize winner: Dr. Francis Crick (Watson&Crick=DNA) say the earth was seeded and Darwin theory is BULLSHIT. We had to have started somewhere

http://www.agoracosmopolitan.com/hom.../26/01340.html

"The likelihood of the formation of life from inanimate mater is one to a number with 40,000 noughts after it.... It is big enough to bury Darwin and the whole theory of evolution. There was no primeval soup, neither on this planet nor on any other, and if the beginnings of life were not random, they must therefore have been the product of purposeful intelligence." (Hoyle: 1981, 294:148).

Ambulocetus - Ambulocetus natans was an early cetacean that could walk as well as swim. It is the only species classified under the genus Ambulocetus. Along with other members of Ambulocetidae, it is a transitional fossil that shows how whales evolved from land-living mammals.

NEWS POSTS
Like hippos, their closest living relatives, whales are descended from an ancestor that had four legs and walked on land, a transition explored in the upcoming exhibition Whales: Giants of the Deep, opening March 23.

Paleontologists have found fossil evidence of various “walking whales,” semiaquatic whales that show some early stages of the transition from land-dwelling ancestors to today’s familiar fully marine whales.
One such “walking whale” is Ambulocetus (am-bew-lo-SEAT-us) natans, which lived about 49 million years ago in what is now northern Pakistan, in long-lost coastal shallow seas and brackish rivers.

(This model of Ambulocetus natans, an Eocene "walking" whale that lived nearly 50 million years ago, was featured in the Museum exhibition Extreme Mammals. )

Although Ambulocetus was large—about 11 to 12 feet long—and had strong limbs, the animal probably could not walk well on land. After all, it had squat legs that splayed from its body, flipperlike hind feet, and it weighed about 400 pounds (180 kilograms).
On land it probably waddled and pulled its body with its forelimbs, a bit like sea lions do. In the water, Ambulocetus swam like a sea otter using its gigantic, probably webbed, hind feet.

(See skeletons of early whales cast from fossils in Whales: Giants of the Deep)

Ambulocetus obviously had legs, and, though it may not seem like it, all modern whales do, too. The front legs of whales have evolved into flippers. And tiny, invisible-from-the-outside remnants of hind legs—mostly the hips—remain in the skeleton of some whales, inherited from their land-dwelling ancestors.
