Shopping in Helsinki is about to get a whole lot faster (and slightly creepier) with the launch of a new payment system that lets you pay with your face. Yep, forget credit cards and antiquated cash – even waving your cellphone seems old-fashioned compared with Finnish company Uniqul’s facial recognition. All you do is look into the camera as it identifies you using biometrical data and pulls up your info, including stored credit card or PayPal details. And it all happens in about five seconds, compared with the tiresome 30 seconds we waste tapping in PINs. Uniqul swears its military-grade security makes it perfectly safe — but doesn’t mention how it deals with identical twins, doppelgangers or the NSA.
