Chronic Disease Hospital
There is an island in the middle of the Ohio River across from Marietta Ohio. Marietta was the first settlement in Ohio. There once was a hospital where people with communicable diseases were sent on the island. Being an island it often flooded so the "hospital" was moved into town. Less a hospital than a place people were sent to die. I've known it was there and known of the stories of it being "haunted". I've been to so many "haunted" places and never seen a thing so........anyway, I was finally able to get in not long ago. It's been empty on the top floor for years. The bottom floors house a few businesses. In the B&W photo it's the long curved building just off center. In the front right/center is a very cool 4 room hotel, restaurant and music venue. The hotel once was a train stop where there was female companions available for travelers. I've told people that have lived in the area for years about it and they are not aware even though the lettering is still on the building. |
