Re: Child Abuse Video From Car Wash
I am going to go against the grain here. It seemed apparent to me that the hose was by no means on full blast. If it had been that little girl would have been blasted against the wall. I do not condone child abuse at all. But on the other hand, I don't condone kids being able to get away with whatever they want, when they want. That looked to me, at worst, like she was spraying the child with a hose, (the equivalent pressure I mean). No obvious harm was done other than the child got a soaking. That was not bodily or mental abuse. It was a 'cool down, I AM THE BOSS' type of discipline. Yeah haters will hate me. But that's what I think, based on what I saw. What was the woman supposed to do if the child was throwing a tantrum? Give her a cuddle? Give her some candy/sweets? Put her on a naughty step? We weren't there, we don't know what the whole story was. Although I wouldn't have chosen to do that to my child, I don't think she deserves to be charged with abuse. We have gone too softly softly. There has to be a happy medium. I will stand back and wait to get flamed now. But I still think that sometimes children do need discipline and as long as it isn't causing bodily harm, mental harm or it's what any sane person can see isn't beyond reprimanding then I think we do need to get tougher with kids. Otherwise, twenty years from now we will have a generation of spoiled, selfish, misbehaving brats who are now adults and running the country. |

+1 I wouldn't do that to my child either but it was obvious it wasn't on full blast. The news reporter made it seem like that. I guess that's her job though. |
