I was born in eastern Poland, only a few months following this catastrophe. I've always been fascinated by the cavalcade of misfortunes it yielded. I'd love to pay a visit to this enchantingly ominous town!

Some folk still live in the less radioactive parts of Pripyat , though close to reactor 4 you're looking at 250,000 years. Reactor 4 in a cement sarcophagus  The head of Reactor 4 on the night of the accident. Anatoly Dyatlov  |

One of the places to visit on my bucket list. I remember it well, it was 2 weeks after my 17th birthday give or take a day or two. |
