Chapel of Bones - Nibbia Chapel
Old photographs of the Chapel of Bones also known as (Nibbia Chapel), located in Malta. Sadly it was destroyed during World War II. The chapel also had a crypt in which patients who died at the Sacra Infermeria were buried. Originally it was the chapel of the cemetery of the Sacra Infermeria, (the Hospital of the Order of St. John) and was erected by the Knight fra Giorgio Nibbia in 1612 but rebuilt in 1731. Its interior was decorated with human skulls, bones and even with complete skeletons. |
