The creation of the atomic bomb (the biggest bomb the world had ever seen) was a project first OKed by then President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. It's true purpose was to bomb major military installations in Europe (mostly those in the heart of the Nazi nation as they were the biggest threat in the war, however, Adolf blew his brains out thus ending the war in Europe altogether. With VE (Victory in Europe) day now passed us we had no other choice but to drop it on a small military/civilian installation in Japan. There were far more important places to have attacked but given the overall power of the A bomb Truman decided to hit a few smaller areas hoping that would be enough to have the Japs surrender. They didn't. Our next strike was on Nagasaki, another Japanese military installation with both soldiers and civilians. Truman made it very clear that if they didn't do the right thing now and surrender, more innocent people would be lost. Tokyo, which was Japan's biggest city and home to major industrial outlets that produced bombs and ammunitions was somewhere on that list and possibly the next target on the schedule. Luckily, after much deliberations, the Japs decided they wanted no more death from this unforgiving bomb and surrendered to the allied forces. I'm sure some of you may have seen this on TV when it first aired but for those of you who have not I suggest watching it. It is the MOST powerful recreation of what happened on that day in Hiroshima: The place where the world witnessed the detonation of mankind's most deadliest weapon for the first time.

I've also included some pics of this event. While I agree with the bomb being dropped it is very hard to think of all the innocent kids who had to lose their life when they themselves had nothing to do with the war. But that's war, my friend, it happens and if there was a way to prevent it I know for a fact we would have done whatever we could have done.
NOTE: I know many people think that our decision to drop the bomb was wrong on many different levels but you must keep in mind that had we not done it hundreds of thousands more Americans and Japs would have died had the war continued. As horrible a thing as it was, it was completely necessary... at least in my eyes. What do you think

This film is a recently declassified film for the sole use of educating soldiers on just how powerful these types of bombs are. I didn't do much research so it's very likely this here is a Hydrogen bomb rather than an A bomb judging by the year. These bombs were double the strength of the A Bomb and could literally destroy an entire city in a matter of moments. To test these types of bombs. Young U.S. soldiers would have to stand close enough to the blast zone that they would be hit by the hot blast of air of the outskirts of the explosion so they themselves could experience the power of these bombs. Years later, these soldier would die from cancer and other horrible diseases as a result of their exposure to high amounts of radiation.

Upon learning of the attack on Japan using America's Atomic Bomb, newsreels across the United States spoke endlessly of this never before seen bomb. This is once of those newsreels, ending with a patriotic speech by President Harry S. Truman... one bad ass mother fucker!

But of course, never to be outdone, the Russians built their own nuclear bombs. Russians however are never contempt with coming in third or even second for that case so they themselves began to develop nuclear bombs the likes of which had never been seen. After years of hard work by Russian scientists, engineers, and other important people they completed what at the time was the BIGGEST bomb the world had ever seen. The name just about sums it up: The Tsar Bomba (otherwise known as King of Bombs). Even the name is scary. This weapon, when exploded, would release the equivelant of 57,000,000 Tonnes of TNT. In other words: A SHIT LOAD OF BOOM-BOOM! lol.
On October 30th, 1961, The Russians decided to give the world a demonstration and detonate the bomb in a remote area. This is raw video of that trial explosion.

The crater left behind from the bomb is so unbelievably fucking massive that it can be seen from space!

i actually get to go onto white sands missile range. i go out there to hunt oryx and quail. i went out there last year and was so hung over i actually threw up on trinity site. i leaned up on the fence and let if fly. is that disrespectful? by the way you would be amazed of the cool shit that is out there.

I have a friend that lives in hiroshima and he sent me the offical guide to the international mueseum of Nuclear warfare which is all over the city. All those images when the bomb dropped and burnt the shadows into things are actually real. The man with the ladder, the guy on the stairs, the shadows on the bridge all are in it. I will see if I can scan it.
