Re: Ben: Diary of a Heroin Addict

Kids need to watch things like this, with the hope that they see the dire consequences of such a foolish choice.

Re: Ben: Diary of a Heroin Addict

The very end of this documentary, where he's crying and saying 'I'm dying...I know I'm fucking dying but I can't stop' is absolutely jarring. I think that says everything you need to know about addiction.

Re: Ben: Diary of a Heroin Addict

Induced coma, rapid naloxone detox and stabilization of the patient for a period of 48 hours, is one possible treatment. It isn't widely used though, nor does it have a great success rate.
However, there is some speculation that maintaining a patient in a coma for a longer period (2 weeks+ ) may yield better results. Unfortunately it isn't feasible to test the theory though, given the high risks. Additionally, it doesn't address the psychological aspects of addiction or the patients potential predisposition for drug abuse.
new here, this is kinda how i kicked heroin, but it was 24hr rapid detox. it worked for me but i had to do a little time shortly after for something previous.

Very poignant video. Heroin is a terrible addiction to break.

Re: Ben: Diary of a Heroin Addict

Without sounding cold I don't have much sympathy for people who develop habits.
I can sympathise if it was through prescription drugs as that's an easy thing to do, but getting hooked out of sheer stupidity holds no sway with me.

Re: Ben: Diary of a Heroin Addict

This really hits home for me. I have a sister who has been battling a heroin addiction for 9 years. She very much reminds me of this guy Ben. Right now she is in prison because she could not kick it.
Yeah this hits home for me too. I have a cousin who is "battling" heroin as well. Im suprised he is still alive as bad as that sounds
