A six-year-old Rothschild giraffe named Petal gave birth to the calf on the morning of March 22 after a 15-month-long pregnancy.
The baby was able to stand up, albeit tentatively, within half an hour of her birth, so that she could start nursing.
The calf is the first giraffe ever to be born at the LEO ZCC, but more are expected to follow later this spring.
The centre has asked members of the public for suggestions as to what name the newborn giraffe should be given.
