Re: Baby Deer Spoiled With Belly Rubs (Vertical Vid Warning)
And if any of them knew anything of the behaviour of prey-animals, putting them on their back puts them into possum mode, or basically a fear-response that freezes them into position in the mad hope that the predator will lose interest in them and just bugger off instead of eating them. The fawn isn't happy having its belly rubbed, it's petrified. When they go to put it down, the righting reflex kicks in, and it cries for its mother to come and rescue it. |

Re: Baby Deer Spoiled With Belly Rubs (Vertical Vid Warning)
They assumed it was reunited with it's mother. The likelihood is that, due to the introduction of human scent, the mother would reject the fawn and it would starve because the mother would refuse to allow it to nurse. |

I don't know, dude. I wasn't there. I just came across this vid before anyone else posted it here. I thought it was cute, I found a plausible back-story for it, and here it is. I'll have to take their word for it that the fawn returned to its mother. |
