A violent tornado outbreak from April 25 – 28, 2011, affected the Southern and Eastern United States, leaving catastrophic destruction in its wake, especially across the state of Alabama. The outbreak produced destructive tornadoes in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, and affected several other areas throughout the Southern and Eastern United States. Widespread and destructive tornadoes occurred on each day of the outbreak.

As of 8:05 a.m. EDT on April 29, 2011, over 300 people were reportedly killed as a result of the outbreak. However, the exact number is unknown as search and rescue efforts continue, and consequently, various sources differ on the exact count. All except five of the deaths occurred on April 27, although it is unclear whether these are included in the total number of fatalities. 210 of the deaths occurred in the state of Alabama alone. April 27 was at least the deadliest tornado day in the United States since the Super Outbreak of 1974, and possibly since the 1932 Deep South tornado outbreak of March 1932. Over 300 tornadoes were reported over four days, including 211 in 16 states on April 27.

US President Barack Obama has said he has "never seen devastation like this" after visiting a tornado-ravaged city in the south-eastern state of Alabama.

I did'nt think it belonged HERE either I sat up till 230am with an ass pucker factor of 9 on a 1 - 10 scale. This is true terror when you are sitting in the dark alone 80 mph winds whippin trees tornado air raid sirens going off you can't see shit but the report is that at least 2 tornadoes are in your area destroying the town....and by the time you make them out in the dark it's too late. Trust me chief it belongs here no fuckin doubt!

Scary shit. I live in alabama and yea, it wasnt fun at all.... People joke about tornadoes, but until you come so close to one you can hear it, you just dont understand what kinda terror it is...

Meh, I have seen what tornado's do, and I used to sit on my porch and watch them when they ripped through Moorhead, they are beautiful and terrifying all at once.

i live in canada we just had high winds warning on thurs april 28/11 and winds got up to 120 klm an hour. my job is a delivery job, i del new auto parts to garages. that day was one of the scarist one in my life! dodging trees debree and live wires was no fun! i never want to b anywhere near a tornado.
