wow, what a pain in the rear!! my cousins in texas always complained about ants and as a kid i though 'phhht... ants are ants... we all have ants' ... i was obviously wrong  those seem a bit nastier than the funnel ants and little black ants we have |

Yeah, we are overrun with fire ants. Have been for years and now it's leaf cutters and a new one known here as crazy ants. Jeesh.  Ever been stung by a fire ant? It's not pretty. |

no sir... im not even sure we have them here  we have red ants people call fire ants and i've been bitten by those... i can tell you (compared to what i've heard from others) that it was for sure not a fire ant. it was just a light pinch.... my cousin in Texas fell into a fire ant nest as a kid and i heard his horror story... i've never experienced anything like that with ants up here though.  i think the only really damaging ant we have up here are carpenter ants (which i've seen eat nearly all the studs in a wall once) but that's common everywhere i think, isnt it? |

Yeah, carpenter ants don't use hammers and nails, just saws and drills. Maybe even dynamite. I've often wondered if fire ants get their sting from eating hot peppers. |
