Ants

Anyone know what species of ant this is? The cluster of mounds is about 15 feet in diameter. The scattered random mounds around this main colony is about 30 feet in diameter.

Medium size ants, brown in color.

These are new to me. I'm just wondering how big this colony will grow and should I be worried.

Those openings into their den are about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. I have never seen anything like this. It is rather scary.

No, they are not fire ants. They are much larger in size than a fire ant. Also just to be sure I let one walk around on my hand and it did not sting me.

I live in S.E. Texas and am quite familiar with fire ants. I have about one billion of them on my property.
