Re: Ants

are they on me???! feel like they're on me!

If you had fire ants on you there would be no question about it.

These are definately not fire ants though.

Re: Ants

Very interesting a smart ant... They will make bridges and tunnels made out of the colony to get through to some areas... And yes, they live in EXTREMELY large colonies!

Yeah, each ant will come out of the tunnel with a load of dirt, walk up to the edge of the mound, drop the dirt and let gravity pull it over the exterior of the mound. It's so interesting to watch them.

Re: Ants

Here in Florida we call them Carpenter Ants, they are very destructive due to they like to live in homes and will chew up pretty much anything that resembles a possible food source. They are non toxic/poisonous but do pack a hellava bite when provoked. Id reccomend termination.

Thank you. I'm considering that.

Re: Ants

Oh wait, I found it in my enclyclopedia. It is a leaf cutter ant. Well distinguished by it's very large head and found in south eastern U.S. and other tropical areas. Build very large colonies.
If you look at the closeup pick of the mound I posted you will see the very large head on those rascals.

Re: Ants

No, they are not fire ants. They are much larger in size than a fire ant. Also just to be sure I let one walk around on my hand and it did not sting me.

I live in S.E. Texas and am quite familiar with fire ants. I have about one billion of them on my property.
