Very interesting a smart ant... They will make bridges and tunnels made out of the colony to get through to some areas... And yes, they live in EXTREMELY large colonies!

Here in Florida we call them Carpenter Ants, they are very destructive due to they like to live in homes and will chew up pretty much anything that resembles a possible food source. They are non toxic/poisonous but do pack a hellava bite when provoked. Id reccomend termination.

Oh wait, I found it in my enclyclopedia. It is a leaf cutter ant. Well distinguished by it's very large head and found in south eastern U.S. and other tropical areas. Build very large colonies. If you look at the closeup pick of the mound I posted you will see the very large head on those rascals. |
