Masha Allen was a really sad example. Her mother tried to kill her in Russia so she was sent to an orphanage where she was later adopted by a pedophile. http://poundpuplegacy.org/node/38199 |

~~Nathaniel Carver 7YO 2009 Dillsburg, PA .. Pennsylvania parents defending themselves against homicide charges in the death of a 7-year-old boy they adopted from Russia said in court filings this week that they sought medical help because the boy repeatedly hurt himself. Michael J. Craver, 46, and Nanette L. Craver, 54, of Dillsburg argued that their son, Nathaniel, had been diagnosed with reactive attachment disorder, which includes a tendency to injure one's self. A developmental neuropsychologist told The Patriot-News of Harrisburg that it was possible that Nathaniel unwittingly injured himself to the point of death, but cautioned against speculation without a full evaluation of his development. "I've had a kid who chewed his hand off," said Dr. Ron Federici. "I had a kid who poked an eye out. , and kids who cut themselves with no pain." PROSECUTORS ARE SEEKING THE DEATH PENALTY AGAINST THE COUPLE, saying Nathaniel had been tortured. Authorities said Michael Craver showed up at a Camp Hill hospital in August 2009, telling doctors he found the child in bed, unresponsive. After he died a few days later, police said he suffered a TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY, HAD ABOUT 80 EXTERNAL INJURIES AND HAD BEEN MALNOURISHED. The York Dispatch said Wednesday that the Cravers argued they provided significant medical care to their children, including at facilities in Dillsburg, Lancaster and Philadelphia. Nathaniel also received psychiatric care, the defense motion said. Nathaniel Craver's twin sister is living with a family member, The York Dispatch reported. The paper said a judge gave Nanette Craver permission to write and receive letters from the girl, a right her husband was granted last month. *****************AS OF APRIL 2011*************** *********Cravers await trial Wearing orange jump suits, shackled and handcuffed, Michael and Nanette Craver are escorted from the Carroll Township Municipal building through a back door to the police station on Thursday, April 29. The Cravers will be taken back to York County Prison to await their trial for the death of their adopted Russian son, Nathaniel. After hearing 3 hours of testimony District Justice Richard Thomas ruled Thursday afternoon, April 29, that the Commonwealth has established enough evidence against a Dillsburg couple for the death of their son. The trial date for Nanette L. Craver, 54, and Michael J. Craver, 45, both of Blair Mountain Road, is set for 9 a.m. on June 14 at the York County Courthouse. The couple is charged with one count each of criminal homicide and endangering the welfare of children and three counts each of criminal conspiracy. I will keep an eye open for any updates……………………………………. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

** Missing Since: 1999 from Towanda, Kansas ** Classification: Endangered Missing ** Date of Birth: June 8, 1987 ** Height and Weight: 4’4, 67 pounds (estimation) ** Distinguishing Characteristics: Caucasian male. Brown hair, blue eyes. Adam’s birth name was Ivrin Sylvester Groeninger III. He wears eyeglasses with gold wire frames. He has a birthmark on his back at the waistline about one quarter-inch, numerous scars on his abdomen, and a three-quarter-inch scar on the inside of his left thigh. Adam was last seen in Towanda, Kansas sometime during the late spring or summer of 1999. He lived in the Pine Ridge Mobile Home Park with his adoptive parents, Douglas R. “Doug” Hermann and Valerie J. Hermann. Adam had been taken from his biological parents and placed in the Hermann’s care when he was two years old, along with his two younger siblings, and the Hermanns later adopted him. He was homeschooled, and his younger siblings attended public school. Doug and Valerie later stated Adam ran away from home during the first week of May 1999, after Valerie spanked him with a belt. They said they were afraid to report him missing because they thought they might get in trouble with the authorities for the spanking and would possibly have their other children taken away. ***(FYI: Adam was placed in a children’s home for two days in 1996 after Valerie spanked him with a belt and caused bruises)*** The Hermanns stated Adam ran away frequently and, after he disappeared in 1999, they assumed he was either homeless or with his biological parents. They continued to collect adoption subsidy payments for Adam, approx. $700/month until his 18th birthday. When they declared bankruptcy in 2002, they listed him as a dependent. They filed for divorce in 2002, and listed Adam on the divorce documents. The divorce was later dismissed and to this day the Hermanns are still legally married. Adam’s disappearance didn’t come to police attention until late 2008, when his adoptive sister contacted law enforcement with concerns about the child. She had tried to locate him through the Kansas Dept of Social Services and Rehab Services and discovered they believed he’d lived with the Hermanns until he turned eighteen; something Espinosa knew was NOT true. Adam’s adoptive older brother, Justin Hermann, says his mother physically abused Adam, but he says he never saw Doug hurt the child and that sometimes Doug tried to stop Valerie from abusing him. Justin said he once called the police after Valerie threw Adam against the wall and pulled his hair, but by the time the authorities arrived his mother had persuaded him to say he’d made up the story. Police have no record of this call, but other relatives corroborated Justin’s abuse claims. An aunt says Adam was chained to a bathtub faucet the last time she saw him, and Valerie’s mother says she abused Adam, locked him in the bathroom and forced him to sleep in the tub. Espinosa claims she saw her mother kick and hit Adam and step on him. Both of Adam’s adopted siblings said he was locked in the bathroom and denied food; they occasionally sneaked in food for him. Valerie denies having mistreated Adam, though she admits occasionally spanked him and sometimes used a belt. She claimed psychiatrists believed Adam had attachment disorder and either bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, and that the doctors advised her to lock Adam in the bathroom at night because he had threatened to kill his parents. After Adam’s disappearance, Doug and Valerie told their family he’d been given back to the care of the state. At one point they claimed he’d been placed in a state mental hospital. Adam’s biological sister last saw her brother in approx. 1994. A yr or 2 later he sent a x-mas card, and this was the last contact she had with him. She spoke to Doug and Valerie several times after 1999 and they told her Adam was fine, but never actually spoken to him. Eventually after repeated attempts, the Hermanns asked her not to call anymore. In July 2010 the Hermanns were charged with felony theft because they continued to accept public assistance pymnts for Adam after he was no longer in their care. In addition to that, they were also claiming Adam on their taxes all of this time, and in the end actually received a total $52,800 as a result. In June of this year, they accepted a plea agreement in regards to the fraud charges. They were sentenced one year probation, and required to pay restitution. The Hermanns haven’t faced any charges in connection to Adam’s actual disappearance. No remains were found, but authorities said they’d discovered the answer to one of the questions they had. They declined to elaborate on what it was that they uncovered. As of June 2011 the case remains unsolved. ****************This case actually took a twist that I didn’t expect, this is yet another adoption/abuse/murder case that looks to be directly related to the Attachment Disorder bullshit…If any new developments come to light, I will post them. If anyone else knows of any related cases, let me know…I’d like to research them******************** |
