Re: Abandoned Places: Canada

I'd love to explore the remaining houses here, but the majority of now-owners are out of state. That, plus that the floor-boards here in Missouri are very suspect. That's why I make charcoal drawings of them and never go in.

Keep it up, dude. You're living (part of) my dream.

Re: Abandoned Places: Canada

Just to add (as if you asked), I was trained as a charcoal-on-paper artist as a child. Skipping a lot, SW MO is rife with abandoned farm houses. I wanted to retire and sketch them to preserve them. Well, I couldn't retire, and those houses are passing faster than I can find them.

Re: Abandoned Places: Canada

Oh, and "Acadian" is another username that I use on urbexing forums.

:)

Dude thank you so much for sharing these! I LOVE THIS. I haven't used that word and meant it in quite some time
Listen man, I wish you the best & hope you never get hurt out there!
(not to mention I hope you carry a piece)
I can't do any exploring for a few years...
Gotta eliminate risk of being an asshat to zero for a while.
When I was little I'd sneak into the new construction skyscrapers happening around my second house. Then after we moved when my parents would get houses, long ago, we would be the first ones to explore them... probably no one ever touched anything, in decades*(or so you think ya know ;)
Thank YOU DeathHand of Acadian

Re: Abandoned Places: Canada

Thanks :)

I live in the city (near Toronto) but travel out to these smaller towns in the old farming areas. But I also hit places that are in the city.
Are you familiar with this site?

Thanks for the words. I do 'carry' depending on the location (ie: if inner city). But usually I just use my instincts.

Getting injured in these places is always a concern and it happens. I've broken a shin bone on a piece of toppled furniture, sprained an ankle getting stuck in a debris pile and split an elbow open tripping over a wooden beam.

I usually go out to explore places at night and have to deal with poor lighting. But I use a decent tactical flashlight...sometimes there's things I don't see.

I'm very careful, especially in the old barns, but ya never know what lies ahead.

Re: Abandoned Places: Canada

Not sure if this place was abandoned or just 'quiet'.

The size of the property was huge and there was stuff all over.

Re: Abandoned Places: Canada

I hit this location, just outside of Hamilton, back in 2013.

The location consisted of a farmhouse, a work shed/garage, and a smaller barn (workshop) attached to the full-sized barn along with alot of junk scattered here and there.

Only dangerous points with this location: partially collapsed ceiling on smaller barn and rotting, very hard to detect, floor boards on the upper level of the large barn. On this upper level I almost went through the floor - which would have landed me 40 feet or so down into the concrete cattle containment area (or whatever it's called).

This first set is of photos that I took as I scouted out the sml and lrg barns (I had already done the farmhouse and smaller garage/shed) and entered the smaller building attached to the larger barn.

Often you will see photos of open doors, windows, etc.: these are POE's (Points of Entry) that I take in case I have to leave and return at a later date.
