Abandoned Mansion in Illinois
This is far NW of Chicago. I don't really know much about it at this point, except that the county purchased the estate and opened it up as a public forest preserve just a few months ago. I expect anything of value will soon be salvaged, and the buildings destroyed ASAP. I took the interior shots through glass windows. it is so remote and so newly opened to the public not many people know of it yet, so the windows are intact etc. Featured is an indoor swimming pool/atrium, and a nice carving over the main doors. this has always been horse breeding/horse boarding country, and has always been home to very wealthy people. this particular place looks like a bit of a time capsule from the '60s or so, with the exception of a few updates. Not at all sure when the place was first built. 1920s? |

Re: Abandoned Mansion in Illinois
I wonder what happened there. The house seems to be in great condition. I'm surprised no one has purchased the property for residential purposes. Shitty neighbors? Lol.
