I have seen the host of River Monsters catch a giant freshwayer sting ray in the Mekong (I believe). It took him several hours and just when it was close to being netted his rod broke. He also tore a bicep muscle during the struggle.

So, what just frosts my fuckin' cookies is the fact that they killed the poor creature, instead of trying to cut the lines! Get the people off the frickin' boat and and sacrifice the boat for the lives. Life is more frickin' important than a stupid boat!
