I still can't stop pausing the shit out of when he gets hit, it's so unreal looking almost on how he's being tossed like a ragdoll and only being held by his guts BLAH

The force of the impact was such that the extinguisher was thrown up and over the adjacent grandstand. It came to ground in the car park to the rear of the stand, where it hit a parked car and jammed its door shut. The impact with the fire extinguisher wrenched Pryce's helmet upward sharply. Death was almost certainly instantaneous. Pryce's Shadow DN8, now with its driver dead at the wheel, continued at speed down the main straight towards the first corner, called Crowthorne.
Wow what a picture that painted better than the vid imho.. geez I need to get my library card renewed

FWIW, the pedestrian victim wasn't a pit crew worker. As others have said, he was a race marshal.

Tom Pryce, on the other hand, had his head smashed by the fire extinguisher that the marshal was carrying. He was killed instantly, just like the other victim.

The title above the video is wrong, no? Tom Pryce was driving, not attempting to cross the track.

Re: Video Shows The Death of Pit Crew Worker Frederick Jansen van Vuuren

the other pit crew worker barely missed getting hit as well. what were they doing lightly jogging across when cars are headed their way? IF they were to cross, do it at a full sprint. sucks two people had to die because of stuff like that

I've seen this countless times and it never fails to amaze me the speed and violence involved in these two deaths.

Jeeeezus... at that speed neither one of them had time to suffer. Fucking brutal. Last Formula 1 race I ever watched.
