Shooting is supposed to be a last resort. 2 supposedly fit cops, too lazy to chase him down, they have his (probably) car, and yes he resisted- but using lethal force on a guy that, at most was facing a DUI or stolen car charge.
Letting a low level criminal (for all they knew at the time anyway) get away (if you’re too fucking lazy to chase him down) is far better than killing a man (any damn colour) for petty shit.
Other officer didn’t even try to run after him, he could’ve been in the car and chasing him down easily! So many options- and lazy fucking cops take the lazy one.
And fuck that he was pointing a taser- if he was. Seriously? Running away, pointing it blindly from 20 feet away? Those wires don’t go that far, and they need to be shot from a standing position, not flying around, bouncing with the steps of a running suspect. And that cop knew he was in no damn danger.

Facts:
- Tasers can be deadly
- Tasers will almost certainly incapacitate
- If [suspect] incapacitates a cop, he can take their gun
- If [suspect] gets the [officer]'s gun, there is a good chance [suspect] will shoot and kill [officer]
- People who have been tased multiple times can develop a resistance to the taser's effects, therefore tasers won't always work on everybody, especially career criminals.
- Based on [suspect]'s behaviour, he most likely was willing to do anything to escape arrest, including killing cops and innocent civilians.
- [Suspect] was CLEARLY armed, therefore the 'he was unarmed' claim is total bullsh*t
- Fatal police-involved shooting statistics are almost always skewed by the media to favour the narrative that cops are intentionally targeting black people, when (in most cases) that simply isn't true. The news media does this because it creates more unrest, ergo more exciting/engaging articles to write and more advertising dollars.

Defunding the police isn't a good idea, as it'll decrease the quality and quantity of candidates, increase response times, decrease the amount of training new officers receive, and force departments to use outdated and insufficient equipment for longer. Bad idea.

Entirely abolishing the police won't do anyone any good;
It'll eradicate hundreds of thousands of jobs.
People will be forced to take matters into their own hands, leading to more violence.
Thousands of dangerous criminals will be freed, allowing them to commit further offences.
Domestic violence victims will have nobody to protect them, thus enabling the domestic abuse of thousands.
Radical groups will form militias and take control of communities, forcing them to conform to the group's ideals.
Terrorism, both domestic and foreign, will skyrocket as nobody will be there to track down terrorists and stop them before they kill.
Mass shootings and gun violence will go unchecked, leading to countless deaths.
Murderers and serial killers will be free to kill.
Essentially, abolishing the police will lead to The Purge becoming a reality, and as cool as it sounds, I can personally guarantee you it will be absolute hell on earth.

Unless gun control is taken to the extreme, United Kingdom or Japan level, and it's made nearly impossible to obtain a firearm, disarming the police will ultimately lead to more police fatalities and a whole slough of other negative effects.


Had this been a black cop shooting a black suspect, a black cop shooting a white suspect, or a white cop shooting a white suspect, 9/10 chance there won't be much news coverage and there certainly wouldn't have been riots.

Just because a person is black, doesn't automatically make them unarmed and innocent. People have been conditioned by social media and the news to believe whatever they read, because more views and clicks means more advertising dollars and higher revenue. This needs to change, but because we live in a capitalist society nothing is likely to change anytime soon.

I was falsely accused of a crime when I was 19, and ended up being swatted and spending over 3 years in jail before the charges were eventually dropped. I know what it's like being on both ends of the gun.

MARRIED TO AN AFRICAN-AMERICAN WOMAN (for over 8 years now). I have a degree in psychology and criminology. If anything, I'm biased against white people.

All in all, I strongly believe this was a justified shooting.
